32 years of getting into other people's buildings
BJ Alarms is a Sydney electronic security installer. We hold NSW Master Licence 000105538 and we have been at it since 1994, long before every camera came with an app.
The short version
BJ Alarms started as a one-van alarm business and stayed deliberately small. We take on the number of jobs we can do properly, which is why the person who answers the phone usually knows your site.
Over that time the equipment changed completely: copper phone lines to 4G reporting, grainy analogue tape to cameras that can read a plate. What has not changed is that a security system is only as good as the thinking that went into where things were placed.
That is the part we are careful about. Anyone can mount a camera. Working out which four positions make a building genuinely harder to enter takes walking it, and that is where every one of our jobs starts.
We work across residential and commercial: houses, strata buildings, warehouses, offices, retail and construction sites. Some clients have been with us for twenty years and are on their third system.
How we work, stated plainly so you can hold us to it
- We quote what the building needs
- Not the package that suits our margin. If two sensors and a better lock solve it, we will say that, even when it is a smaller job.
- One person, start to finish
- The person who walks your site writes the quote and does the install. Nothing is lost in a handover because there is no handover.
- Cabling done to last
- Conduit where cable is exposed, correct terminations, tidy runs. It costs a little more on day one and it is the reason our installs are still working a decade later.
- We say when something is not worth doing
- Twenty-year-old panels with no available parts get replaced, not repaired. We would rather lose a service call than take money for a fix that will fail.
